This is a video of our sibling team Robot Revolution scoring 460 points twice the evening before their state championship. In the second run it shows how they drive accurately. For the people who asked: The team built the robot 100% themselves. They are 8 kids ages 12-14, and spent over 600 person-hours on the robot this year, including around 100 hours just on the manhole flipper. The 4 driving teams also put in 180 full practice runs in the last few weeks. The teams strengths are: 1) they are all extremely creative--they prototyped multiple great ideas for each of the missions, but could only keep one each for the final robot, 2) there are some kids on the team with amazing spatial abilities (put together huge Technic sets at age 6, perfect score on MOEM Math Olympiad, etc.), 3) many of them have done FLL for 5 years now, so they are very experienced, and 4) they work great together as a team, as you can see in the video. And they also made this video themselves.
Despite scoring the top 3 scores at the Massachusetts State Championship and winning robot performance award, they did not move on.
